Part of The Old Testament Bible Stories for Children series
After the death of Solomon, Jerusalem became less of a Holy City. God sends prophets to lead people back to Him. Isaiah appeals to the king to restore the old traditions - but will the king listen?
"I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me" (Isaiah 1:2).
The Israelites have turned away from the Lord and become corrupt. King Nebuchadnezzar orders the sacking of Jerusalem and Solomon's temple. The Hebrews are forced into exile in Babylon. The prophet Ezekiel reminds them to honor God and promises they will return to Jerusalem.
"And burned the house of the Lord, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem" (Jeremiah 51:13).
Daniel and the King's Dreams
King Nebuchadnezzar is having disturbing dreams. Only a young Hebrew boy named Daniel is able to interpret their meaning. Years later, as in the King's dreams, he demands that everyone worship the golden idol. Will God allow it?
"No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries" (Daniel 2:27-28).
