Nancy took up the challenge by writing for her own children. Then her husband encouraged her to seek a publisher. Marianne Smith supplied the illustrations for her friend's book. Christian Focus Publications of Scotland agreed to publish her work as a series of three books. The first one, Beginning with God, covers God, the Bible, and the Trinity.
There is nothing dry or boring about this book. Nancy brings a contagious delight to her topic as she distils the great truths of God's Word. Discussing God, she answers such questions as "What does God look like?" "Will God always be here?" "Is God perfect?" and "Is God always fair?"
The last subject she tackles is the Trinity. Nancy gently leads us through one of the Scripture's deepest and most challenging truths, answering one question after another.
This book would make a great baptism gift. You might also give it to young parents who have inquired about Christianity without having made a definite commitment.
You can also read Meeting with God, the second book which covers the topics of creation, Jesus, and the salvation, should be out this fall. Living with God, the third book which covers worship, heaven, obedience, and prayer. These books will be valuable resources for families and churches for years to come.
About the Author
Nancy Gorrell takes great delight telling about the Christian faith in simple ways for children to understand. She lives with her husband and family in California and teaches in a Christian school there.

This is absolutely foundational to a child's understanding about God as the Bible presents Him. This book teaches three of the essential Christian doctrines in a conversational way geared directly to children. Gorrell uses a question and answer format to basic questions about who and what God is, the significance of the Bible, and the doctrine of the Trinity. After each question and answer, a short scripture verse is sited, modeling to children the importance of relying on what the Bible says in shaping our views of God.
I especially loved the way that Gorrell dealt with the issue of the Trinity, a difficult concept to grasp for even adults. She presents it as simply as possible and talks of the importance and functions of each of the three members of the Trinity, all while emphasizing that there is only one God.
I also was particularly impressed with the way Gorrell included theological words and concepts such as inerrancy and inspiration, but still kept explanations and writing on the level of a young child. Gorrell has provided a perfect venue for familiarizing the reader with these words so that he/she has a foundation from which to grow in understanding.
My children also really enjoy this book and like to hear it read to them often. They enjoy being able to answer the questions before I read the answers.

| It has - it has changed lives. It teaches about God - it tells the truth, doesn't give some airy fairy liberal nonsense. If you want your child to know the God of the bible for themselves books like this are excellent tools to add to your prayers. With God's power books like this can change lives and they have from Scotland to Brazil - there are people and families who have discovered the love of God and the truth of the Bible for themselves - Well done Nancy.
