One of the best books on prayer I have read Jun 7, 2007
David Jeremiah is one of my favorite authors. He makes Scripture easy to understand with vivid illustrations. This book will help any serious Christian understand how God wants to use prayer to get us on the same page with Him. This book has transformed my prayer life and I have challenged our church with many of its principles.
Prayer Jan 9, 2007
I never received this book. Still waiting. Thought it was still on back order.
How can Prayer really be an adventure? Oct 9, 2005
Dr. Jeremiah gives practical advise for those who truly want to communicate with God. He interprets the scriptures in simple terms, "Ask don't beg" "too busy not to pray" and also adds the dimension of his own experience dealing with Cancer. He does not talk "down" to the reader, but takes him into his confidence and even inserts personal notes from his journal. He breaks down the "Lord's Prayer" into practical terms, showing us (the reader) how we can apply each area. This book is one, I feel, that cannot be read at one sitting, but should be taken showly, a chapter at a time, and "digested" before preceeding to the next phase. It is a book that could be read by a young person or a person of more mature years. It is a book that I will read again and again and would unhesitantly recommend to any "disciple".

Wonderful Book on Prayer Jul 26, 2005
Dr. David Jeremiah's book PRAYER, THE GREAT ADVENTURE is an excellent book on developing a solid, biblical prayer life. The outlines that Dr. Jeremiah uses are well worth the price of this book. Each chapter examines various aspects of prayer from the basics of prayer to spiritual warfare to praying in the Spirit. The book covers nearly every aspect of prayer and as you would expect from a skilled teacher such as Dr. Jeremiah, he stays true to his text.
I higly recommend this book on prayer. It will add to your prayer life and give you a rich understanding of what the Bible says about prayer.
If You Ask Anything in My Name (John 14:14) Aug 23, 2004
Dr. Jeremiah's teaching from the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6) and Christ's High Priestly prayer (John 17) flow directly out of the conviction and passion of his heart that we "have not because we ask not."
After providing more-than-adequate arguments for the necessity of prayer, he goes on to plainly, powerfully and purposefully set out a "roadmap for prayer" from the Lord's Prayer. Worship, God's Will, Our Needs, Forgiveness and Protection are the basic building blocks he uses to construct a pattern for personal prayer. This is an excellent resource for any Christian--whether your prayer life languishes or flourishes.
One Caution: if you listen to Dr. Jeremiah's weekly radio program and thought to read this book as a supplement to the sermon series of the same name (Prayer, the Great Adventure), you should know that the text of chapters 4-10 (and parts of 1-3) are verbatim the same as the audio messages.
One Exhortation: if you don't listen to Turning Point (or missed the series Prayer, the Great Adventure), READ THIS BOOK! This represents the best of Dr. Jeremiah's teaching and some of the best teaching on the subject of prayer I've run across.
