 | Maestro Strobel Feb 8, 2010 |
The Case for Christ is a readable exploration by a journalist into Christian apologetics for the newcomer. While a book, it is more a compilation of answers to questions about Christianity, given in interviews with a dozen or so experts. It summarizes the work of several leading apologists in a compact, accessible and organized format. At the same time, Lee Strobel retraces his own journey from atheism to faith while also weighing the evidence for Christ and his divinity. From personal experience and the evidence presented, Strobel makes the case that it requires a lot more faith for an atheist to maintain atheism than take a step towards God.

| Hundreds of reviews have already been written so I will only add a very simple one myself. Most of the negative reviews are either by people that are dead set against Strobel's conclusion and would dislike any book that reaches it regardless of evidence, or by people that didn't like the lack of interviews with atheists. We can dismiss out of hand the former group (those reviews will not be helpful in determining if you should purchase this book and that is the point of reviews. Rants for or against Christianity belong in the forums). The second group might give you pause, however please note this is the Case FOR Christ, to get the other side you'll need to read another book. If you are like me, and were simply wanting to see what historical and archeological evidence there is to support Christianity's claims then this is a good book. If you are looking for a debate or a pro-atheistic (or pro-Jesus Seminar) position you can find many books on this site to fit the bill. However, the most important thing about this work is to discover for yourself if thinking people can believe in Christianity's claims and if so, then based on what. Before reading this, I had my doubts, after reading this I am convinced Christianity's claims have powerful evidence behind them. Is it the final word? Absolutely, not. But the author admits this himself in his conclusion, so it is intellectually dishonest to give the book a single star for not doing what the author freely admits he never intended to do. My recommendation is: Read the book for yourself. | | | | Great Book Jan 24, 2010 |
| Not the Bible, but a great work of evidence supporting the truth of the Gospel! | | | | books Jan 17, 2010 |
| Great read, delivered before Christmas (great) and my son is really enjoying the way the story is told. I recommend this for anyone who is interested in different points of view about Christianity. | | | | A great book for those looking to get into Christian Apologetics. Jan 10, 2010 |
I realize that all Christians aren't into apologetics. But, I'd recommend that ALL Christians read this book. I think it's necessary that Christians become educated.
This book is a very easy read. It's readable by the layman, and that's what's go great about Lee Strobel. I'm a slow reader, but I couldn't get away from this book. Lee Strobel really keeps your eyes on the pages.
It's a good presentation of the evidence for the Jesus of the Gospels. I'd recommend this to be a great entry level book into studies on Jesus Christ. After this something like Reinventing Jesus, or perhaps the Jesus legend would be a good read.
