Although I thought it went over the top with what other "experts thought" it is the most thorough book on the subject I have ever read. An excellent value and great read.

I've had this hardcover edition since it first came out. I've read through it several times, and refer to it often. Even cite from it to my church family and friends. It is very much a time-consuming read, but worth every second. It is a thick book. And this is even smaller than what the original manuscript was before his proof-reader or editor helped parre it down to what it is now. So much information, so little time. I'd love to have the original manuscript. If you've wondered about spiritual warfare and things related, and want to understand more, this would be an excellent well from which to drink. It is a wealth of information and truth that every christian can and will benefit from in so many ways.

I can't begin to tell you how this book open's one's eye's to life here on earth.. Backed by scripture our battle here is quite the tedious one we are constantly at war with satan and most of the time we arn't even aware of it..It sure has brought me closer not only to God but to the understanding of our lives here as humans..God sure is an awesome God!This book is very worth buying and it is a keeper..
Asserts Demonization of Christians May 19, 2006
The author acknowledges that God had placed three levels of protection around Christians (the hedge, the angels, and the shield of faith) to protect us. One of the main themes of this book is that this protection can be breached and Christians can be demonized (i.e., controlled internally by demons) under what is considered unusual circumstances of sin: "Under unusual circumstances of sin, true believers can become demonized" (p. 437). Anger, bitterness, rage, rejection, child abuse, exposure to the occult, and sexual sins are listed amongst the unusual circumstances that lead to Christians being internally invaded. I am not clear where this is taught in Scripture. However, the author does acknowledge the non-demonic origin of mental illness including depression; he also states that only the emotionally and spiritually healthy believers will be able to deflect the arrows of the devil (Eph. 6) - that is, not be the victims of demonization . Does that mean that God abandons us at our weakness moments - when our emotional and our spiritual health is less than healthy? Does the internal presence of the Holy Spirit who is greater than he who is in the world no longer protect us? Anyone who has read this book should also read a dissenting evangelical perspective (e.g., The Stronghold of Grace) and come to their own conclusions.

This book studies in depth all the relevant topics about spiritual warfare; it focuses on the importance of becoming more sanctified and more obedient to Jesus. This book is not for a new convert because it requires come previous knowledge on the faith in general before moving to a more complicated topic as this one, i recommend this book especially for people in ministry. Pray before reading and read it with an open mind.
I found the ideas and concepts described to be in accordance to the Bible text and in the proper context of the Scriptures. The author was careful to show the original meaning of things as to show that nothing was distorted from its true meaning. Also i found Dr. Murphy's teaching to be consistent with reality because i was able to verify many of it with my personal ministry experience in the field and such experience must always be validated by the Bible before being considered valid.
It was a challenge to read it all because it has so many pages, but it's worth the effort. However don't expect to learn everything you need to know from just this book but i found it to be the best one about the topic. Always rely on the Holly Spirit for everything and The Bible.
