About YWAM Publishing
YWAM Publishing is committed to the production and distribution of books that encourage Christians to make a difference in a needy world. We specialize in books that focus on evangelism, educational training, prayer, discipleship, and mercy ministries.

When you order from YWAM Publishing, you're doing more than getting quality Christian materials. You're helping children and adults around the world through vital missions programs. YWAM's evangelism, training, and mercy ministries currently operate in more than 900 locations in over 140 countries and are staffed by more than 17,000 volunteers. A ministry of Youth With A Mission, YWAM Publishing is a nonprofit organization. A portion of every dollar you spend goes toward helping kids and adults in China, India, Brazil, Columbia, Egypt, Uganda, the Philippines, and other countries in need.

YWAM Publishing started printing tracts with one small printing press during an outreach to the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. The following year we began to print and distribute books to the Eastern Bloc countries. YWAM Publishing moved to Seattle in 1987, publishing only the Prayer Diary/Daily Planner. We now publish and distribute 150 of our own titles as well as over 2,000 books, videos, and CDs from other sources to individuals, bookstores, churches and ministry organizations all over the world.

The Christian Heroes series and the International Adventure series share exciting and inspiring stories of real people who have answered God's call to missions. Other books that address topics such as prayer, spiritual warfare, and Christian living, train and equip believers to effectively impact the world around them.

Reviews
"This is essential reading by everyone with a heart for missions; those who send, those who are sent and especially those on the welcome committee when they return." -Graham Kerr

"I'm really excited about this book and thank God for its important and vital message. It is thirty years overdue! Short-term missions without this emphasis and teaching can easily end up as a tragedy instead of a triumph."
- George Verwer, International Dir.
Operation Mobilization

"Having counseled with hundreds of returning missionaries, Peter & Donna know from experience the re-entry challenges and opportunities that await missionaries worldwide. They have much to say on this vital subject of re-entry... and the authority to say it."

- Loren Cunningham, Founder and President

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Not just for missionaries  Feb 23, 2007
We received this book before we returned from the mission field 10 years ago and found it very helpful. We are re-reading it now to be ready to welcome our daughter's boyfriend home from the war. We haven't found anything else as helpful.

Chessy but good  Dec 28, 2006
I lead short term mission trips and this is one of the most helpful resources I have found to help folks prepare and transition to life back home. This book goes beyond "it will be hard when you go back home", but offers practical reflection points to help you think about the time and what you learned from your time abroad while you are preparing to leave. I love that he focuses on the preparation before you leave the field rather than only on what to expect after you return.

Essential!  Jan 14, 2004
I always keep many copies of this book and give it out to everyone! It is perfect for both short-term missionaries and career missionaries who are returning home to the US.
Returning home is such a challenge, and most of the issues one faces unfortunately are all to common. It is wonderful to read this book and realize you aren't alone, that people have the same experiences. Believe me, you aren't the only one!

Great Book for People Returning Home  Mar 27, 2000
We just returned from Russia when my father gave me this book, and said, 'read it'. That was good advice.

Returning from an extended period in a foreign country can be a difficult experience. This book describes problems you can fall into, and how to avoid them.

It talks about how people fail to notice you've even been gone. Or don't seem to care that much what you did. When you understand these are common experiences, it helps those problems become a lot less personal.

Overall, we've applied the principles of this book, and haven't experienced most of the 'reverse culture shock' that many do. And we've been home nearly a year now, so we'll probably do okay.

Good book to give a returning, or retiring missionary, as a gift.
