Item Description...
An Urgent Call to Revival

One of the twentieth century?s greatest authorities on revival, Leonard Ravenhill gives a no-compromise call to the principles of biblical revival. The heart of his message to the church is in this volume. Appalled by the disparity between the New Testament church and the church today, his message is drastic, fearless, and often radical. As timely a call to revival today as when published nearly fifty years ago, more than 350,000 copies are in print worldwide.

Includes questions for group and individual study.

Praise for America's Great Revivals

"This book comes as a voice from above.[Ravenhill is a] man sent from God [who] appeared at [a] critical moment in history." —A.W. Tozer

About the Author
Leonard Ravenhill was born in 1907 in the city of Leeds, in Yorkshire, England. After his conversion to Christ, he was trained for the ministry at Cliff College. It soon became evident that evangelism was his forte, and he engaged it with both vigor and power. Eventually he became one of England's foremost outdoor evangelists. His meetings in the war years drew traffic jamming crowds in Britain, and great numbers of his converts not only followed the Savior into the Kingdom, but into Christian ministry and the world's mission fields. In 1939 he married an Irish nurse named Martha. Together they had three sons. Paul and David are ministers, and Philip is a teacher. Leonard went home to be with the Lord in November of 1994.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
changed my life  Aug 22, 2006
I read this book for the first time 10 years ago. not every book should be like this. this is a special book for a special porblem: hard, cold and indifferent hearts. This book has staccato chapters that are like hammer hits aimed at shattering your complacency and designed to give you a prayer burden for the world.

Devastating!  Aug 1, 2006
This book should come with a warning label on it saying: "If you want to destroy your life go ahead and read this book!" This book absolutely destroyed me in every way possible. I remember recieving this book from a friend in Philly and was in a bad season in my life and also remembering being scared to read the book. No wait I wasn't scared to read it I was absolutely terrified, and my pre-concieved notions were correct. Once I picked up that book I was as good as dead. I began to weep and groan for weeks and weeks. The burning words in those pages completely consumed me and scathed me. I was skinned and hung up for death. Everything in my life was burnt up and left in an ash heap before my feet, so that I had to turn to God and say what now? He replied and said do what I have always wanted you to do, die! Everything changed for me, prayer life, ministry, preaching, relationships, church, conduct, and everything else. I walked away broken, battered, and bruised from this book and have never been the same. So with that read this book unless you want to live in your 'normal' Christian life, but if you have enough guts to actually do what the bible says, let Ravenhill expose your fakeness and start all over again from step one!

FOR THOSE STRUGGLING WITH PRAYER  Jan 8, 2006
My prayer life slowly dwindling into obscurity, regulated to 5 minute sessions here and there, I knew I had to do something to revive my prayer life. I searched various authors and decided to give this one a chance. Thank you God! Within 15 mintues, I was on my knees pleading with God to forgive me for my self-centeredness, my wife wondering what was wrong with me. If it doesn't do the same for you, you are either an Elijah in prayer or your heart is calloused. Either way, you still need to be pray. Very brief yet potent! The author truly has a gift writing psyiologically. Thank you, Mr. Ravenhill. My hope is that this work will not return to you void.

Why Revival Tarries  Sep 20, 2005
Book for a season. If you're hungry to see God move and see the lost saved and the church move again in power, this is the book for you. Be prepared it will tell you how to see these things come about but will also tell you of the cost needed. Made me so much hungrier to see God move and helped lift my limited hunger for prayer to more of a fire!! Awesome book, get it, read it, live it!

A revival specialist in Ravenhill.  Jul 28, 2005
"Why Revival Tarries" is truly one book you won't want to put down. With a sort of prophetic voice from the grave, Ravenhill's plead for prayer is just as applicable today as it was when in was published in the 1950's. To call it timeless, would be an understatement. It's the perfect gift for all those searching for personal and/or church-wide revival - and is nothing less than breathtaking.
