Item Description...
Product Description Why is doing good no guarantee of an easy life? One of the most common objections to the Christian Faith is 'If God created the universe and is still in control of it, then why does he allow suffering and injustice?' Melvin Tinker considers the different opinions people have before investigating the biblical answers about a crucial topic that needs to be faced by an evangelistic church. He looks at the situations biblical characters faced, the opposition to Jesus himself and the suffering of the early church. This book provides the key factors behind the benefit and purpose of suffering.

 | Miniature In Appearance But a Giant Inside. Jul 26, 2007 |
Whether religious or not, this book will provide readers with answers they need to be able to share an explanation of the different factors behind the benefit and purpose of adversity.
Melvin Tinker, the author, is well and widely read in the various disciplines he writes about. His masterful ability to convert scripture into understandable plain language makes his work even more believable and trustworthy.
You will find this book fascinating in a sense that it ministers unto the quietness of your spirit.
For those who may find this work inadequate, and seek more thought provoking lessons, then Rabbi Harold Kushner's "When Bad Things Happen To Good People" may serve as a good fill in the blanks book to compliment this one.

This book addresses the problem of how a good God could exist in a world where there is so much suffering and evil. This is an honest book that does not shrink away from issues of the worst kinds of innocent suffering. Melvin Tinker is a clergyman who is well acquainted with people's sufferings and does not resort to cheap or shallow answers to explain away the difficulties of this subject. He uses mainly the Book of Job in looking at the problem of evil, as well as some of the Psalms and Jesus' teaching in the Gospels.
The book is both eloquent and readable, and it contains some rare but very useful insights into Job that I have personally found very helpful. I intend to get an extra copy to give to one of my relatives. | | | | Why do Bad Things Happen Aug 20, 2005 |
| The book was written poorly. It was a mixture of commentary, biblical passages, and poorly drawn conclusions. There are much better texts that are clearly written as to why bad things happen to good people. I do not recommend this book. | | | | Or, better yet, why do GOOD things happen to bad people? Jun 1, 2001 |
| This wonderful, theological read asks and answers the transgenerational, transglobal question which mankind has wrestled with since the beginning of time. Using the Old Testament example of Job, Melvin Tinker allows the reader to examine how God can work through hardship, pain and anguish to refine the human spirit and soul. Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People is one of the best explanations of the goodness of God no matter what the circumstances may seem like to us. This small book contains volumes of wisdom that will transform the perspective of people who are willing to take an honest look at how they perceive the lessons that life has to offer. | | | Write your own review about Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?
