* Too Soon - a teenage boy takes the family car for a drive even after his father had told him not to, and then he has to face the consequences of that decision. Finders, Keepers. This story deals with the question of whether it's right to keep something another person has lost.

* Mr. Touey - after her dog is killed by a train the girl writes to the president of the railroad, Mr. Touey, asking for a new one. The Miller and the Indians. When the Indians take revenge on a settlement for mistreatment, the Millers are spared because of their kindness.

* Balto's Race of Life and Death - the dog, Balto, races through the Alaskan snow to deliver medicine. Jon Goes Seal Hunting. Jon is bored with school and decides to try seal hunting. He soon returns to the classroom.

* Runaway Christmas - a young boy has difficulty in adjusting to a move to a new state and runs away. Irving and the Besetting Sin. Irving spends the summer on his grandfather's farm and learns an important lesson on obedience.

* Little Lost Cat - cat becomes a railroader's pet and saves the train from a crash. Ranger Learns too Late. Ranger, the dog, plays with a rattlesnake one time too many and has devastating consequences.
